Complaints about Notts police assaults on the increase

Copwatcher | 26.09.2008 14:14 | Repression

Complaints under the category of 'other assault' against Nottinghamshire police force rose to 22% in the year 2007/8. This compares to 14% for the UK as a whole and is the second highest for any police force in the UK.

According to a recent report by the 'Indedpendent' Police Complaints Commission, the Other Assault category includes allegations that more force was used than was reasonable. It includes common assault, injuries resulting from the use of handcuffs and other assaults not resulting in an injury.

Police should not get away with assaults

It's good to know people have complained of assaults and those responsible in Nottingham should be prosecuted. I have been hurt by the unwarrrented use of handcuffs, having a police officer drive the side of his hands into my testicles while being searched and other bullying actions and this was in brighton and Hove - the system allows these bullying cowards to get away with far too much
