Transition South Liverpool Presents: Climate Camp 2008: film and discussion night
Date: 25th September (Thursday)
Time: 8.00pm
Venue: Liverpool social centre (AKA; Next to Nowhere), Bold Street, Next to ‘News from Nowhere’ bookstore

What was the ‘Climate Camp’?
The Camp was a place for anyone who wanted to take action on climate change; for anyone who’s fed up with empty government rhetoric and corporate spin; for anyone who’s worried that the small steps they’re taking aren’t enough to match the scale of the problem; and for anyone who’s worried about our future and wants to do something about it.

What is Transition South Liverpool?
Transition South Liverpool is part of the Transition Towns movement that was founded in Kinsale, Ireland and Totnes, England by environmentalist Rob Hopkins during 2005 and 2006. The aim of the project is to equip communities for the dual challenges of climate change and peak oil. The movement currently has member communities in a number of countries worldwide.

‘Transition Town’ community initiatives or ‘direct action’, against climate chaos?

How effective was this years Climate Camp Demonstration at Kings North coal power station? Can Direct action work with the Transition Towns movement, or does it work against it? These issues and others will be explored after a screening of video footage from this years Climate Camp which will be shown during the evening.
