US sponsored coups in Latin America.
Article 88, Venezuelan Constitution.
Venezuelan flag and folded arms.
South America has seen a move to governance characterised by democratic representation of the indigenous people leading to more equitable governments appearing throughout the region. As a result, many of the resources in the region have been redistributed among the people, including revenue from energy production.
The United States is reported to be actively attempting to de-stabilise the governments involved in order to prevent any further removal of funds from its potential indirect control.
As the situation escalates, the US Ambassadors to both Bolivia and Venezuela have been expelled, dozens of deaths have been reported and the US fourth fleet, moth-balled since WW2, is now operating in the region to provide "counter-illicit trafficking, Theater Security Cooperation, military-to-military interaction and bilateral and multinational training operations".
