Prison Hunger Strikes

George Coombs | 15.09.2008 21:22

As someone deeply committed to prisoner support I know that one of the few ways of protesting open to prisoners in the hunger strike. Prisoners protest for a reason and one such would be the poor standard of health care the state provides
for those it incarcerates.

I have been involved in prisoner support for some time and one of "my" prisoners is John Bowden. For sometime john has been in acute pain with sciatica and health care personnel at Glennochil have shown themselves reluctant to acknowledge and treat his condition and such treatment as he has recieved has been seriously inadequete and John has been disabled with the pain his captors are willing to allow him to endure.
John has also drawn attention to the plight of William Johnstone, also house within HMP Glennochil who has a steel rod in his spine and has been on hunger strke to draw attention to what he says is the refusal of Glennochil Health staff to bring about the operative treatment he believes he needs
Would all concerned people send messages of support to -
John Bowden 6729
HMP Noranside
Fern By Forfar
Angus

And William Johnstone himself at the same address
