Support this National Demo to support the animals in the biggest research laboratory in London.
Support this National Demo to support the animals in the biggest research laboratory in London.
This demonstration is in memory of Pam Kinnunen who sadly passed away on 17th August. Feel free to bring purple ribbons and flowers. For more information about Pam, see http://vegancampaigns.org.uk/archives/2008/08.18.html
The MRC-funded National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in Mill Hill was infiltrated in 1989-90 by animal rights activists. The book 'Caught in the Act' by Melody MacDonald and the Animal Cruelty Investigation Group was subsequently written about the extreme cruelty they witnessed and filmed in NIMR in animal experiments. Animals are still being used in horrific experiments there today. The animals imprisoned in NIMR have no escape from the horrors of vivisection.
Meet outside the gates of the National Institute for Medical Research, The Ridgeway, Mill Hill, London NW7 1AA from 11am on 12th September.
The nearest underground station is Mill Hill East on the Northern Line and the 240 bus, from Golders Green Station, stops right outside the laboratory.
Contacts for the day Ph: 020 7222 1536 / 07767 471111

The Camden Lab is in fact planned for Brill Place behind the British Library in Kings Cross, not Mill Hill. This title for this demo has led to confusion over the campaigns which are run by different people each and it has also led to confusion as to the location of the proposed Camden Lab. There has been speculation around the Mill Hill Lab "be moved to Camden" however this is not the full story around the Camden Lab. See UKCMRI for details on this. The backers for the Camden Lab are the MRC, Wellcome Trust, Cance Research and the UCL.
Local campaihners are asking that homes and community facilties are built on the land. The Camden Campaign is a mixed Respect Fro Animals and community issues campaign. For more details see below. If you live in the area you can speak to communtiy leaders such as Helia Evans [secretary for the somers Town tenants association, Muku Hira, housing campaigner Candy Udwin or local campaigner Mandy Ford.

This was done by "AR events" without them asking us.

This demo should NOT have been called this.
The Stop Camden Animal Lab is a COMMUNITY campaign and whoever called the Mill Hill demo by this name did so without asking or informing us.
Whoever did this should not do so again.
