Alliance Ngondiop didn't fly this morning
Never even left Yarl's Wood she was taken to reception at Yarl's Wood in the early hours but told them she wasn't willing to fly, they just took her back to her room.

Labour MP's immigration plan brings claims of xenophobia
Labour MP Frank Field was yesterday accused of pandering to xenophobia by the leftwing thinktank the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), after he backed plans for all skilled immigrants from outside the EU to be sent home when their work visas expire after four years.

Use of  Control and Restraint in IRC's

Numbers of occasions on which approved Control and Restraint (C&R) techniques were used in Campsfield House, Colnbrook, Dover, Dungavel, Harmondsworth, Haslar, Lindholme, Oakington, Tinsley, Yarl's Wood IRC's, Short Term Holdings Centres':

The total for 2005/06 was 545, for 2006/07 was 554 and for 2007/08 was 370.

Asylum-seeker 'assaulted by British security guards'
Penda Youdjeu and the abrasions he claims were inflicted by guards working for the UK Border Agency A science graduate from Cameroon, who came to Britain to enlist in the Royal Navy, is facing deportation while the Home Office investigates claims that he was assaulted by seven guards at an immigration detention centre.

Penda Youdjeu, 28, described by his British doctor as a "gentle, intellectual young man", fled his homeland after he and his father were persecuted for campaigning for greater political freedom. He moved to Britain in 2005 and applied to join the Navy.
