The Industrial Workers of the World invite you to help them celebrate the start of their General Assembly, happening in the UK for the first time in 100 years. Come and see our new mural and the social space we have carved out in the empty plot behind Freedom Bookshop and talk to what was last year ‘the fastest growing union in the UK’, or just come and have a warm up drink before heading out for the night.
Food, music and drink should all be available and agreeable but feel free to bring your own too. You are welcome to perform if you fancy it, but we reserve the right to prevent you if we do not fancy it.
Music on the night will come from Bluestreak (serious business) and Louise Plus One (music sustains you) and friends, the policy being ‘everything apart from dance music’: ska, hip hop, soul, rock n roll, punk, funk, punkfunk, crunk (that’s enough rhyming –ed.)
Venue: behind Freedom bookshop. Nearest Tube is Aldgate East, from there walk down Whitechapel high st past Burger King and next to KFC you’ll see Angel Alley – signposted as the entrance to Whitechapel Art Gallery. Walk down the alley, looking out for jack the ripper, and you’ve found it.
Admission free
