The Real Heritage week Begins on August 24th at 3pm on the Hill of Tara.

This is a short note for those who may be travelling to Ireland to come out and
support the Save Tara campaigns, Including the Pixies, the SaveTara groups
and defendants who will soon be facing the courts again on a variety of
charges (based in new data gathering and retention techniques tested in Rossport).

the twin corporate types skim the issue of planning legislation designed to
alienate citizens and enrich private citizens who own businesses.

Save Tara and direct action groups will have a day of poetry and song to mark
the destruction of Tara by a govt which seems craven in it's desire to fastrack
planning legislation that mitigates against those who live in small communities.
Seven years of adverse and anti-heritage legislation has led to a complete erosion
of civil rights in accessing due process with regard to decisions made by
An Bord Pleanala, with envisaged re-structuring of the courts system and
elements of the Aarhus convention being introduced into the constitution.
A simultaneous tightening up of laws that allow people to query decisions
based in being alone of an established heritage group and of one year's
instigation. The planning seems weighted toward the developer and profiteer
whilst mitigating against small communities who must endure profit-driven
erosion of rights.
The laws included:
1. The Housing Bill(Miscellaneous Provisions) - the 'Trespass Law'
2. Amendments to the Roads Acts (from 1998 to present).
3. The abolition of Dúchas (The Heritage Agency ,in 2003, which had the power
to implement the National Monuments Act 1930 )
4. The amended National Monuments Act 2004 (which gave the mInister power
to preserve by record or to demolish architectural sites within 28 sitting days
of the Oireachtas , the Oireachtas is the Irish parliament).
5. The SIB ( Strategic Infrastructure Bill , a developer and lobby- led piece of
legislation which utilises the PPP to instigate Fast -track planning and comes with
a bevy of amendments which include a re-structuring of the Irish Court system
and an Bord Pleanala)
All these Bills are coupled with the reduction of state responsibility towards
the protection of Heritage and the setting up of the National Roads Authority, which
is the largest employer of archaeologists in the state.
The Poets and singers wish to celebrate Tara's place in our Imaginative
and cultural life , we have witnessed the most blatant vandalism of our
heritage over the last few years which has left a generation bereft of an
imaginative centre and a lot of very fat people rolling in money from
re-zoning corruption and attendant planning in and around the Meath
area.
