Carbon Sink Forest

A Con and a Rip Off.

I heard yeasterday that the Forestry Commission are felling trees that would store Carbon for thousands of years, and are replacing them with trees that will die in a hundred years, and some if they are lucky, in five hundred years.

The trees they are planting could be destroyed long before then by fire. The trees they are felling are the most fire resistant, the best long term Carbon store.. The reason they are being felled is pretty pure racist bigotry. A disease that affects many Communities in this country .

That bigotry leads to very short sighted policies. Trees in need of thinning so that they can start to really grow rapidly to maximise timber output and Carbon storage in the short term, are clearfelled so that native trees can be planted that will never equal the timber productivity of those trees they are clear felling.
