Local people do not support you!

No local people supportted your march. The locals depend on the power station for work! The British coal industry provides jobs for thousands of people who will be thrown out of work if you tree huggers get your way. Peoples lives and careers are more important get your priorities right remember the slogan "coal not dole"?

Coal not dole

What happened?

Orange Block marches to Power Station. Arrives. Speeches. Police say go back. They march back to camp. Some people stay. They are all arrested.

Is that an accurate summary of this one part of today?

Re Coal not Dole
Presumably people that work for the power station have children - as we grow older we will see the evidence of climate change, our children will be left with the problems made by our generation - we have to change our lives so that our children will have a life. Before condemning 'tree huggers' do some research , start with:
United Nations, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon
'...some of the most precious treasures of our planet -- treasures are being threatened by humanity’s own hand...the continent’s glaciers are melting... sea levels could rise catastrophically... I saw how the rainforest -- the “lungs of the earth” -- is being suffocated. In Punta Arenas, Chile, near the centre of the famous “ozone hole” in the earth’s atmosphere, children wore protective clothing against ultraviolet radiation. There are days when parents don’t let them play outside, or even go to school. These scenes are as frightening as a science fiction movie. But they are even more terrifying, because they are real. '
Look at the 'Stern' Report in this country - and then read what the IPCC has to say - you may change your mind.

Coal not dole has missed the point entirely. If we don't stop climate now it will run away. There will be no jobs or careers. There won't even be any humans. The planet will survive, but we will not.

Wake up.

Lots of local support

Sorry Cole Not Dole you are WRONG
But then the medai I suspect you read would probably be where you got your misinformed opinions from, judging by your comment about "Tree Huggers"

There was a local man interviewed on Radio 4 lunchtime news today who could "see the power station from his house" and was on the march in the thick of it, for the same reasons as everyone else.

If this countries dimwitted executives had the foresight to make their quick buck by embracing non-fossil fuel alternatives and lobbying for insulation grants then they could be employing far more people than the energy industry current does, with a much more sustainable industry than power generation with grossly inefficient, obselete and dirty technology. However they choose to be greedy and lazy and take the easy short term option...

Jobs not Coal

Yes,Y, that is an accurate summary

That is exactly what happened, and I am sad to say I was one of the 99% who walked away. At our catchup meeting a couple of hours ago, it emerged that very few people either heard the police snnouncement/threat, or noticed that anyone had stayed behind. I only heard this to my horror at the meeting.
