Appears to be a mistake

As far as I can tell this photo is taken of this point here

 http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=51.415780N,+0.5977874E&ie=UTF8&ll=51.416275,0.598294&spn=0.002282,0.006974&t=h&z=18

Recognisable by the coal conveyor in the background and the green marker where the people are climbing. If it is, that's not a jetty, and it's outside the boundary fence of Kingsnorth. You can walk to that point, you don't even need a boat.

I think it's the jetty in the back of the picture you were after, better luck next time ;-)

Nay Sayers

To the nay-saying ninnys who have posted the derogatory comments about this action: what have *you* done today to try to make a difference to the world? You sound like Statler and Waldorf from The Muppet Show.

How I've made a difference

10.08.2008 11:15

I walk to work every day rather than using my car, which I suspect will make more difference than landing a boat on an inlet pipe. Wasn't Climate Camp 2006 held at Drax power station? Isn't Drax still running? Wasn't the stated aim of the day of mass action 2008 to shut down Kingsnorth? Isn't Kingsnorth still running? So what did Climate Camp 2008 do to prevent the new Kingsnorth plant? Seeing as the decision to grant permission to build it lies with the government, wouldn't a protest make more sense if it hadn't taken place during Parliament's summer break when most MPs are off on holiday?

How am I silly?

I said

1. "I walk to work every day rather than using my car, which I suspect will make more difference than landing a boat on an inlet pipe."

Not driving my car to work saves 261kg of CO2 from being emitted to the atmosphere every year.

So I've clearly made a difference, small yes, but it's a difference. How does that make me silly?

2. "Wasn't Climate Camp 2006 held at Drax power station? Isn't Drax still running?"

Yes it was, and yes it is. They're facts, so how does that make me silly?

3. "Wasn't the stated aim of the day of mass action 2008 to shut down Kingsnorth? Isn't Kingsnorth still running?"

Yes it was, yes it is. Again facts. Again, how am I silly?

4. "So what did Climate Camp 2008 do to prevent the new Kingsnorth plant? Seeing as the decision to grant permission to build it lies with the government, wouldn't a protest make more sense if it hadn't taken place during Parliament's summer break when most MPs are off on holiday?"

Again, this is true, parliament is in recess, hence it is silly season, and the papers are struggling for stories. Holding Climate Camp at any other time would mean it would overshadowed by other events. If this were to happen, then all these poor protestors wouldn't get the attention they crave. Because lets face it, hanging sign on things doesn't make a lot of difference.
