What about workers jobs?

09.08.2008 15:50

What about all the people who work at Kingsnorth power station, why should they lose their jobs just because some environmentalists think that coal is a dirty fuel? Come we have been burning coal for centuries and the world hasn't ended yet!

Jobs before ideals

a renewable future creates more jobs

there have been several studies that have shown clearly that a renewable energy based power sector will create significantly more jobs than the current fossil fuel / nuclear based system.

so yeah, what about the workers jobs... bring on the renewable future, bring on the jobs.

Renewables?

09.08.2008 21:37

Renewables? What like a wind farm? Hmmmm, it would 'only' take 846 turbines to produce the same power as Kingsnorth, and then lets hope the wind don't blow to hard - cos the unsightly things can't be used.

Slagging off Police

09.08.2008 22:13

I notice there is a lot of slagging off of the police on this site, but don't these photos show that they've closed off an entire section of A road to allow the protest march to take place? If they were as hell bent on disrupting the protest as people are trying to make out they could've just left the marchers to take their chances against the oncoming traffic.

Only if you assume that the police are needed to make a march safe and that protesters can't close off a road themselves. The only people I know who think that are the police themselves, always just concerned with our safety.....
