Food vans stopped a mile from Climate Camp by cops.

Guido | 07.08.2008 21:30 | Climate Camp 2008 | Climate Chaos | Free Spaces | London

Vans delivering food are being stopped by the Police and forced to unload a mile from the site.

The cops are constantly saying the words "health and Safety" to justify every bit of harrassment they dish out. Yet here they are forcing dozens of people to cross a fast and busy main road carrying heavy boxes??!

Those ever helpful cops...

So it has to be carried in by hand...

...and wheelbarrow...

Though not in all cases.

The dissruption to the camp and kitchens is minimal thanks to the hard work of volunteers carrying the boxes by hand and whatever means available. It is also helping to show a lot of people here quite how political the Police really are.

Police is dumb, no?

Police are dumb. The more they harrass the camp and make things difficult - surprise surprise - people don't go home whining - they get more determined. Big up all Climate Crew. It's looking good! Thanks to all posters to Indymedia, it really useful for those that can't make it there.

Another one for the courts, is it legal to stop food being delivered?

Another one for the courts, is it legal to stop food being delivered? Even volunteers have the rights for good working conditions and workers rights. Breach of safe and safely rules?

Wouldn't it be funny after the theatrical performance of the first night Police acting on the grounds of health and safely to be charged for breaking the very rules.
