Press release from Nottinghamshire Stop the BNP, August 5th

Yesterday (August 4th) members of the British National Party (BNP) began arriving at the Bungalow, Codnor-Denby Lane, Denby, Derbyshire, to begin preparations for the party's annual Red White and Blue "festival" to be held there in mid-August.

Supporters of Nottinghamshire Stop the BNP and anti-fascists from Derby, who are organising a protest against the so-called "festival" on Saturday August 16th, were also in the area yesterday, distributing leaflets to residents explaining why they will be protesting.[1]

The "festival" itself will take pace from Friday 15th-Sunday 17th August. Last year, however, it was outside of the licensed weekend that residents were subjected to the most disruption with loud music, including Nazi marching songs, being played late into the night.

The BNP would like people to believe that they have the support of local residents, but both this year and last year there were a huge number of objections to the license application for the event.

Residents have complained that they suffered several weeks of disruption before, during and after last year's event and even incidents of intimidation when they tried to raise concerns about this.

Trevor Masters of Notts Stop the BNP, said, "We want to support local residents by making sure that the BNP don't come back here next year."
