Local Children Join Portsmouth Greyhound Demo

SARC | 02.08.2008 00:11 | Animal Liberation | South Coast

A small group of activists met to show their opposition to Greyhound racing outside the rundown stadium in Portsmouth & some local kids join in the action!

While we were doing the usual leafletting and standing outside with our placards on display we were surprised to see how smartly some people had dressed up for a night out at the dogs! It seems like such a strange way to spend an evening.

As usual though it wasn't very busy and the security ignored us as we carried out our protest. Then two local boys walked past and noticed what we were doing, they came over and asked about it, one saying that his Nan had rescued a racing greyhound. They joined in the protest each holding a placard.

It's really encouraging to have support from local people against this kind of exploitation, especially as a large proportion of people have dogs at home as companions.
