Support Dan | 31.07.2008 16:32 | SHAC | Animal Liberation | Repression | Birmingham | South Coast

Last night he was held at Christchurch Police Station due to mass overcrowding of all prisons. This afternoon he was taken to HMP Exeter in Devon. It is unknown whether he has arrived there yet, but as soon as we know and we recieve his prison number we will publish it, which means it will then be possible to send letters of support.

Dan was charged with "conspiracy to blackmail" Huntingdon Life Sciences and remanded on Wednesday 30th July 2008 at Winchester Crown Court after pleading guilty due to circumstantial evidence and the possibility of a trial lasting up to six months. He will not be sentenced until the end of the trial.

It is unfortunate that he has been taken to this prison as it means he is hours away from his family, friends and partner, however we are hoping he will be moved to HMP Winchester or another prison in that area ASAP.

The trial for the other defendants is due to start on the 29th September 2008 at Winchester Crown Court.
