prepare

There was a bus went from Swansea to north wales on such a jaunt some years ago. A son of mine determined to go. I saw to it that he would not make a fool of himself and gave him a download of BNP material so he actuall knew what they claimed. He certainly prepared himself with questions and argument on the basis of that.

All the preparation and homework was wasted. When they got there the Police were expecting trouble like there had been in Swansea previously, were ready and penned the busfulls in a park until the BNP party was over. There was no confrontation.

Organise educational sessions to cover the time while on the bus and penned up. Perhaps the Police will decide that fuel should be saved, and the busfulls held near their hometowns.

UAF, the UDM of the anti-fascist movement.

29.07.2008 21:59

Typically this post by UAF is another example of their splitting and scabbing tactics. They know damn well that the organisers of the anti-bnp protest, Notts. Stop the BNP, have called for people to be in Denby for 09.00 so what do they do, arrange for their buses to be arriving well after that time thereby ensuring a division of forces on the day?
The UAF have not lifted a finger to help organise the protest over the 9-12 months that local anti-fascists have been working on it. Then, at the last minute like some has-been cavalry, they come riding over the hill trying to claim all the glory. On top of this they have as Secretary of Nottinghamshire Trades Council one of their members who abuses his position by conveniently ignoring trades council rulings if it conflicts with UAF policy, particularly with regard to local anti-fascist work.
These sectarian splitters and wreckers, who emulate so very well that other local scab outfit the UDM,(spit, spit) should be ostracized by all and sundry and exposed for the duplicitous, double-dealing scum-bags that they are. And we thought the BNP were the enemy.
Bob.

Despite how much I dislike your organisation and its tactics

Looks like antifa are stealing this one, any transport from the south west area?

Bloody UAF

30.07.2008 02:45

There was absolutely no need for UAF to mess around with the times for this demo. The organisers have done a good job and but for UAF's interference, everything would be happening at the same time. And how come UAF used Notts Stop the BNP name as a supporter for their poster when Notts STBNP expressly told them not to?

UAF is failing wherever it goes and needs a kick up the arse or to completely dissolve and reform without the SWP involvement and the likes of Weyman bloody Bennett hanging around its neck. It shouldn't be led by people who are black or Asian simply because they are black or Asian. It should be led by people who are competent. If they happen to be black or Asian, that's fine but frankly who gives a shit as long as they're doing a good job, which the present lot definitely aren't.

Time for big changes at UAF or all its credibility (or what it has left) will go down the plughole.

Antifa and the left

30.07.2008 09:22

antifa put the call out against the rwb long before the left.

Instead of acknowledging, a mobilising for that, the left's strategy, as it always seems to be, it to divert away any potential conflict or confrontation by channelling peoples anger into a photo op cum paper sale rally.

Word of warning

30.07.2008 11:11

To anyone planning on going to the prostest, I would seriously consider going with Notts Stop the BNP, these coaches will in no doubt be stopped by the police, who will if anything allow them to have a sanctioned demo, far enough from the RWB for them to not even know you are there. You will probably be stuck on a coach with the UAF, who will very quickly metamorphasise into the SWP for hours, listening to speeches from their leaders, and having people a) try to sell you a paper
b) try to recruit you
c) Try to get your contact details (never give your contact details, even on a petition, you will be chased by them.

I speak from experience.

The most effective protest is going to come from Antifa (if that is your bag)

and Notts stop the BNP, check out their website, for details

SHUT THEM DOWN, DON'T WAVE A FEW BANNERS FROM A SAFE ZONE THEN GO HOME!

Don't be fooled

30.07.2008 14:18

This is about shutting down a fascist festival not holding a banner and selling papers

This is not a protest

See you there

30.07.2008 15:18

There really shouldn't be any surprise about what the UAF are up to. Only fools would work with them.

Clueless UAF

30.07.2008 23:21

Only a bunch of clueless idiots like the UAF would publicly advertise pickup points for an anti-fascist action.

Unsurprised

Why wait 4 the cops?

31.07.2008 00:23

Wot i cant understand is why the good antiracists of notts n the surrounding regions arent out their everynight bricking the bastard farmers windows, gluing his locks, painting his walls, whatever it takes. Why wait for the cops?

lies

From Notts Stop the BNP website and flyer:

Organised by Notts stop the BNP.

Supported by the national RMT, midlands TUC, FBU East Midlands region, UCU Easr Midlands region, Notts division NUT, south Notts NUT, Cental Notts NUT, Notts Unison, Derby UAF and Notts Refugee Forum and numerous other trade union organisations and other anti-racist campaigns throughout the country.

Protest and Mass picket at 9 am

From UAF main website:

Unite Against Fascism are calling on every organisation and individual opposed the BNP's attempt to hold an event aimed at stirring up race hate, to protest near the rally site in Codnor, Derbyshire from 11am on Sat 16th August (exact timings and venue tbc).

This protest is called by Derby, Mansfield and Nottingham Trades Council, Derby Unite Against Fascism, Notts Stop the BNP, and Unite Against Fascism nationally. Supported by East Midlands TUC (and in conjunction with local and regional trade union organisations and local UAF/ LMHR groups).

So UAF have taken all the work put in by notts Stop the BNP, done none themselves, claimed it as their own, ripped off their website and flyer and put it on their flyer as such, changing the time and destination of the picket into an ineffectual protest away from the site!

Oh my fucking life! It is as rightly pointed out a new low, you really could be forgiven for thinking that the leadership of the UAF are spooks.

should be a great demo, well done to majority of good organisers. Now all moaners shut up & stop hanging out the dirty washing. We have great unity & only minority of swp leaders are being abit mardy, it could be worse, !!!
Dont worry Mr Warners is getting loads of shit, from plenty of people especially the locals there for a start, we dont want them to stop the festi we want it here so we can stop them for good:)

miles away

I understand that the footpath running adjacent to the land on which the BNP are meeting has been closed following an application from the Police. As there is no public land nearby I don't see how anyone will be able to get close to the event to oppose it. The Police will just arrest you if you try. I also hear that the Police are limiting the protest to 16 people under their draconian public order powers.

What is the point of mounting a divided protest under these circumstances. Instead of doing this a positive alternative event should have been organised.

Justthefacts

to just the facts

07.08.2008 08:44

The massive police presense will actually work in our favour, the BNP are trying to attract new comers to this event, who will be stopped by the police (how do they know the diference between a festival attender or an anti fascist?) there is no possible way for the police to limit a demo to 16, lol. if they try to shut off the village, loads of BNP won't make the festval, plus the BNP still have to get past the antifash lines, no matter how pushed back by the police they are. It's a win win situation for us.

An alternative event is not a good idea in my mind. We ahve every opportunity, and I believe we will be succesful in making this the last RWB in Codnor.
