prepare
29.07.2008 20:21
All the preparation and homework was wasted. When they got there the Police were expecting trouble like there had been in Swansea previously, were ready and penned the busfulls in a park until the BNP party was over. There was no confrontation.
Organise educational sessions to cover the time while on the bus and penned up. Perhaps the Police will decide that fuel should be saved, and the busfulls held near their hometowns.

UAF, the UDM of the anti-fascist movement.
29.07.2008 21:59
The UAF have not lifted a finger to help organise the protest over the 9-12 months that local anti-fascists have been working on it. Then, at the last minute like some has-been cavalry, they come riding over the hill trying to claim all the glory. On top of this they have as Secretary of Nottinghamshire Trades Council one of their members who abuses his position by conveniently ignoring trades council rulings if it conflicts with UAF policy, particularly with regard to local anti-fascist work.
These sectarian splitters and wreckers, who emulate so very well that other local scab outfit the UDM,(spit, spit) should be ostracized by all and sundry and exposed for the duplicitous, double-dealing scum-bags that they are. And we thought the BNP were the enemy.

Bloody UAF
30.07.2008 02:45
UAF is failing wherever it goes and needs a kick up the arse or to completely dissolve and reform without the SWP involvement and the likes of Weyman bloody Bennett hanging around its neck. It shouldn't be led by people who are black or Asian simply because they are black or Asian. It should be led by people who are competent. If they happen to be black or Asian, that's fine but frankly who gives a shit as long as they're doing a good job, which the present lot definitely aren't.
Time for big changes at UAF or all its credibility (or what it has left) will go down the plughole.

Antifa and the left

Instead of acknowledging, a mobilising for that, the left's strategy, as it always seems to be, it to divert away any potential conflict or confrontation by channelling peoples anger into a photo op cum paper sale rally.

b) try to recruit you
c) Try to get your contact details (never give your contact details, even on a petition, you will be chased by them.
I speak from experience.
The most effective protest is going to come from Antifa (if that is your bag)
and Notts stop the BNP, check out their website, for details

Organised by Notts stop the BNP.
Supported by the national RMT, midlands TUC, FBU East Midlands region, UCU Easr Midlands region, Notts division NUT, south Notts NUT, Cental Notts NUT, Notts Unison, Derby UAF and Notts Refugee Forum and numerous other trade union organisations and other anti-racist campaigns throughout the country.
Protest and Mass picket at 9 am
From UAF main website:
Unite Against Fascism are calling on every organisation and individual opposed the BNP's attempt to hold an event aimed at stirring up race hate, to protest near the rally site in Codnor, Derbyshire from 11am on Sat 16th August (exact timings and venue tbc).
This protest is called by Derby, Mansfield and Nottingham Trades Council, Derby Unite Against Fascism, Notts Stop the BNP, and Unite Against Fascism nationally. Supported by East Midlands TUC (and in conjunction with local and regional trade union organisations and local UAF/ LMHR groups).
So UAF have taken all the work put in by notts Stop the BNP, done none themselves, claimed it as their own, ripped off their website and flyer and put it on their flyer as such, changing the time and destination of the picket into an ineffectual protest away from the site!
Oh my fucking life! It is as rightly pointed out a new low, you really could be forgiven for thinking that the leadership of the UAF are spooks.

What is the point of mounting a divided protest under these circumstances. Instead of doing this a positive alternative event should have been organised.

An alternative event is not a good idea in my mind. We ahve every opportunity, and I believe we will be succesful in making this the last RWB in Codnor.
