Public sector anger latest. Bus workers hit the streets.

On Thursday Bus workers took to the streets for a demo called by the Unite Trade Union. Since the deregulation (privatisation) of the buses by the Tories life has become increasingly difficult on the buses. Not least because a driver heading down Oxford Street employed by one company is more than likely to pass another bus whose operator pays his colleague up to ten grand more for the same hours.

The march itself was loud, proud and decidedly angry. Many of the drivers and maintenance staff had brought their families with them. The rally took place a City Hall to send a clear message to Boris the buffoon that if he thought that the Underground and RMT were his only transport worry then he was sorely mistaken. This demo sent a clear message that the bus workers have recovered their Union impetus following deregulation and have had enough of the present situation. Also in attendence werer some RMT members who work on the busesIt has been decades since there was last a strike on London’s buses. It looks like a ballot for industrial action would be easily won. Watch this space.
