Former Burnley BNP councillor Luke Smith found dead

Inquest on Friday - verdict likely to be suicide

We've just spoken to the coroner's officer in Burnley, who has confirmed the death of former BNP councillor, Luke Smith. Smith was found hanged in Burnley's Yorkshire Street at around 4pm yesterday. An inquest will open on Friday though the verdict is likely to be suicide. Smith was 26.

The last report we had of Smith's behaviour was when he suddenly reappeared from obscurity a couple of weeks ago, after being convicted of attacking a pub landlord. In the article that we reprinted, it was revealed that Smith's mental health was fast-deteriorating and the court was told that he was said to be suffering from adjustment disorder, brief reactive depression and a mental and behavioural disorder due to misuse of substances...

How can anyone make cruel comments on such a heartbreaking occasion? Did they know Luke personally? No - I guess not!

Luke was not fascist or racist - just a young man proud to be British - brave enough to voice his concern that his country was being overwhelmed with immigrants. I am sure the majority of British people share his feelings but do not have the guts to say so!

The ones who knew Luke will remember him with love and affection. To the ones who did not, but are intent on throwing insults - carry on, you cannot hurt him any more - you are pathetic and unimportant. The truth is staring you in the face but you are too blind to see it!

It really makes me laugh how you can be so contradicting. "Closer to a society that is free from discrimination"??? ... if i'm not mistaken you're discriminating against "Fasc" as you put it. You dont like him because of his beliefs ... isn't that discrimination ?
