Victory for Tamil's in the UK - ECHR Judgment NA. V. The United Kingdom
The Court held unanimously that the applicant's expulsion to Sri Lanka would be in violation of Article 3 (prohibition of inhuman or degrading treatment) of the European Convention on Human Rights.  http://www.ncadc.org.uk/Newszine96/NA.%20V.%20UK.html

Kemi, Taiwo & Yasmin back where they belong in Cardiff

The family were returned to Cardiff last Monday, however Kemi was rushed to hospital on Tuesday with internal bleeding. Kemi, speaking to local media WalesOnline, said ; "I don't know what is going to happen. They (the doctors) are doing their best anyway. I don't know when I will be out. If the bleeding is stopped I will go home. I am so worried. I am having pains. I think maybe I have overstretched myself. I don't want to lose the baby." The article goes on to say ; "Furious partner Taiwo Salami blamed the Home Office for her problems. The couple have maintained they did not receive adequate treatment while they were being held at Yarl's Wood detention centre, near Bedford."

Anselme Noumbiwa, still here, still fighting
"Monday about 4.30 the escorts picked me up from Colnbrook IRC to Heathrow airport to deport me to Cameroon where I escape due to torture and violence when I succeeded my father and refused to followed the Bamiléké tribe.

The escorts were five people, brought me near the flight, one hold my left hand, other on my right hand another one in front of me and two behind me.

When we reach the flight's door I say to them I can return in the same country, I tried to hold the flight's door with my hand and they started to harm me, put me the handcuff hurt me with that, they carried me on to the plane and I tried to shout and say I'm not a criminal or robber, I'm asylum seeker why do you treat me like this. They hold my finger on the two hand and press out to break I cried.

One airline staff man came and say we can't carry this man why did you treat him like that. They continued to harm me and the man of airline gone and came back with a lady who came and complain. Then the escorts took me off the plane and brought me back to Colnbrook."

Third attempt to remove Elizabeth & Hilary

"They were 'Snatched' from their Darlington home early on Thursday 10th July for forced removal on Sunday the 13th, (since stayed) the 'snatch' provoked outrage in their community. The Bishop of Jarrow, the Rt Rev Mark Bryant, attacked police for taking her away in one car and her two young children in another. Politicians including North East MEP Stephen Hughes and Durham City mayor Grenville Holland have also pledged their support for Mrs Kiwunga.

The family have now grown to three with baby John just 14 weeks old. They are currently in Yarl's Wood IRC, due to be removed last Sunday the removal was stayed to allow a incubation period for anti-malarials which was only given to the children at the weekend.

We have had really good media coverage in the last few days. Elizabeth is delighted with all the cards she has received so please keep it up if you can because that will help her keep strong. Also, it is Marie's 3rd birthday on 2nd August if you could send a card that would be great.

Tomorrow I am going to write to Liam Byrne and request a meeting and Stephen Hughes (MEP) is going to ask if he can attend, so please pray that he will meet up with us.

Finally, neither of the children are well. John has a chest infection and Marie hasn't been eating - I wondered at first whether she was fretting but now she has diarrhoea and vomiting. They all need our prayers."

Many thanks for your support,

Sheilagh

Pupils speak in support of Kamal Begi
Students at an east London school are hoping against hope that their campaign will stop the deportation of their Afghani classmate, Kamal Begi. Kamal Begi, a Brampton Manor student, and his uncle have lost all their appeals for asylum and are under threat of deportation, despite having lived in the UK for over six years. When they arrived in January 2002, they were granted leave to remain for a year and then later refused indefinite leave to remain.
