Swedish Activists Protest Outside Bayer

Last Thursday, 10th July, a group of activists set out to inform the neighbours of Bayer Cropscience in Staffanstorp, Sweden. The company is being targeted by animal rights activists because of their involvement with Huntingdon Life Sciences. The site in Staffanstorp has been protested several times and now we thought we'd do some educational work.

The surrounding neighbourhood was leafleted and stickers put up on lamp posts all over the place. Specially designed posters with information about Bayer's involvement in the dirty vivisection business had been printed and was put up on bus stops, trash cans and well literally everywhere. Since activism isn't exactly common in Staffanstorp this small flyposting actually resulted in an article in the local newspaper. A picture of the poster with the titel "BAYER CROPSCIENCE TORTURES ANIMALS" and a mutilated monkey was clearly shown in the article and the text was great as well. It told that activists had put up posters all around Bayer and that the company have been a target of anti-vivisection protests.

Bayer's press officer have previously stated that they have a strict policy concerning animal testing although she wouldn't comment the specific situation. This time she promised to call the journalist back with a comment but she didn't. Ashamed perhaps?

The protests in Staffanstorp will continue as long as Bayer does business with HLS.
