Protest at Novartis, Grismby

SHAC | 08.07.2008 14:34 | SHAC | Animal Liberation | Health | Sheffield

This is the start of regular Lincolnshire demos against Novartis...

SHAC report: 07/07/08

On Saturday 21st June 6 activists demonstrated outside Novartis in Grimsby. Novartis hide at the back of an industrial estate, hoping nobody will notice then, they must have a guilty conscience!

The area we have to demonstrate in is great for us, on a junction and opposite Novartis' entrance, traffic slowed down to read our placards and leaflets were passed out to interested pedestrians and neighbouring companies that wanted to know what is wrong with Novartis and their links to animal cruelty.

Novartis recently went to court and got fined in the US for over charging doctors for their drugs (see  http://indymedia.org.uk/en/2008/07/402541.html), shows what a greedy, morally bankrupt company you are Novartis! Not only do you torture animals at HLS and at our own labs, but you try to rip people off - disgusting!

We let them know that there are going to be many more demonstrations at the Grimsby site. Although we could only use the megaphone for 15 minutes because of Novartis' draconian injunction, the anger and passion of the demonstrators meant that they didn't need a megaphone to get their message across to the animal abusers. and the local support was positive.
