Tsvangirai hands victory to Mugabe by dropping out.

- | 22.06.2008 21:27 | World

Zimbabwe's opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai has pulled out of the presidential run-off because the vote would not be fair. Robert Mugabe has thus won the run-off by default despite official results of first election showing he had lost by about 120,000 votes.

There will be a protest at the Zim embassy in London tomorrow - this news gives even more reason for it to be well attended.

The USA and UK have decided that Mugabe's Zimbabwe is not legitimate according to the Guardian.

I suppose that would be an unilateral declaration of independent dictatorship.

Pity they don't have a local precedent for that type of thing.
