Net Neutrality: Stop Virgin from destroying the internet...

IMCista | 07.06.2008 02:07 | Free Spaces | Technology | World

The new CEO of Virgin Media, Neil Berkett, has openly stated in an interview that they think net neutrality is “a load of bollocks” and claimed they're already doing deals to deliver some people’s content faster than others.

Every significant Internet provider around the globe is currently in talks with access and content providers to transform the internet into a television-like medium: no more freedom, you pay for a small commercial package of sites you can visit and you'll have to pay for seperate subscriptions for every site that's not in the package.

Almost all smaller websites/services will disappear over time and multinationals who are used to using big budgets to brute force their content into every media outlet will finally be able to approach the internet in the same way.

Busy chap. Virgin have already been in talks on spying on internet users re peer to peer. BBC would love this so that people who do not wasthc their crappy propaganda would end up paying a licence fee. (  http://www.newser.com/story/23048.html?rss=y )

Customers should change their provider - as an IT tech I woyuld argue that they are definitely dogshite.

They are also in talks about raising prices for rich media. e.g video content.
