Yesterday long time Midlands activist and respected Indy contributor Manchester Lad made his public resignation from the UK Indy network. Last night on IRC another London based Indy UK moderator announced his intention to cease working with the main kollective and to concentrate on London only work believing the UK Indy network to be,

"riddled with anti-semitism"

I as a non active member of the UK kollective are not resigning, I do not see the point but I do call upon other kollective members to support the following proposal. I am making this proposal as a post because when it was sent to the moderation and features lists last night it was blocked.

A clear statement from the kollective as a centre page feature stating the following

1 anti semitism is not welcome on the newswire

2 anti semitic posters will be banned

3 mods using their block to prevent the hiding of anti semitic material to justify within 24 hours their reasons for doing so

4 mods who hide posts to notify the moderation lists within one hour of the hiding

5 mods who hide comments to notify the moderation lists within one hour of the hiding

6 mods should not hide comments within strings that they have contributed to

7 the hiding history of each mod to be published each month in a public list covering both posts and comments

8 all mods to make a public statement saying they agree to hide only within the scope of the editorial guidelines

9 all mods to agree to never to edit posts without the agreement of at least two other kollective members and to notify the moderation lists immediately a post or comment has been edited with full reasons for doing so.

So one admin comes along with a proposal to clear up the current mess over the antisemitism problem on UK IMC and another admin hides the post !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You do realize this is not a game don't you ?

I fell like weeping sometimes when I see the mess UK IMC has got itself into over one or two admins issues with Jews. It should be real simple, if an admin is antisemitic don't let them be an admin anymore. I can't put it any planer than that.

Now let's all move on and work together to build a social justice movement in this country that worries about issues like housing, food, education, etc and stop worrying that Jews are taking over the world (hint - they're not)

Yeah well nice try but that was always going to be hidden wasn't it ?

Anybody who has had any involvement with IMc over the past couple of years can see where the problem is but clear statements rejecting antisemitism are never going to be approved because there will be at least two admins who will block that. The biggest reason IMC has lost so much credibility recently is because of the way process has been used to block both a stand against antisemitism (Atzmon - need I say more?) and the nutters from Sheffield (Chris and his 911 troofer mates).

I don't think that IMC in Britain will die off completely because there will always be people like Jordan Thornton who will spend their days cutting and pasting vast tracts of anti Jewish nonsense so that will give the impression of activity but the days when IMC was the default for reporting actions, events or other movement activity are gone. It's a shame but not a disaster.
