Dear Europe: the dramatic appeal of a young Roma girl

Sunday, June 1 2008 - Her name is Rebecca and she is a 12-year-old Roma artist who is being brutally persecuted in Italy in spite of her winning the UNICEF 2008 Prize for “Art and Interculture”.
EveryOne Group is helping Rebecca and her family in a climate of persecution that is reminiscent of the Holocaust years. Rebecca has asked us to send a message to the European Parliament in which she asks for help for her people. We

Let us respond to Rebecca’s message and stop the persecution and genocide of the Roma people in Italy. The new Europe, the Europe of progress (both economic and social) cannot allow the mistakes and horrors of the last century to be repeated once
again among general indifference. EveryOne Group is here to answer any questions about the persecution and to offer projects in line with the “European Strategy on the Roma People” written up by the European Parliament. We can illustrate the importance of including the Roma people in Europe in a Frame Charter, the approval of which by the EU has now become a priority if we want to prevent the virus of racism triggered off in Italy spreading to other countries.
