Big Macs or Starbucks Frappuccino’s the choice must be bewildering for asylum se

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when I saw this! Asylum seekers are now being given luncheon vouchers to live on. This is a copy of the back of the book. £35 a week they get to live on how many Big Macs or Starbucks Frappuccino’s can they get for that.
What’s wrong with cash? Maybe the home office are getting kick backs, wouldn’t surprise me.

Swap them for cash

Only asylum seekers on "Section 4" support have to live on vouchers.
Section 4 support is for people who have had their case refused but for some reason cannot return to their country of origin eg because that country won't accept them or won't produce travel documents for them.
Thousands of asylum seekers live using vouchers or sometimes shop gift cards. Luncheon vouchers can only be used to buy food not medecines, nappies, soap, shampoo, cigarettes, razors or anything else like that.
BUT it is completely and totally legal to swap luncheon vouchers for cash and there is no reason why you can't use them in your regular shopping.
Even if you arrange to swap luncheon vouchers for cash once a month so non-food items can be bought you will be helping out an asylum seeker.
The UNITY Centre in Glasgow is trying to set up 'luncheon voucher clubs' where groups of people - pals, workmates, class mates at college, join together and bulk buy luncheon vouchers once or twice a month to help out families of asylum seekers.
Maybe you can do the same in your area too?
