New post-Katrina documentaries "Down But Not Out" and "Dos Americas: The Reconstruction of New Orleans" will be screened today at the Bowls Court Social Center at 7:30pm. Down But Not Out was shot in 2006, one year after the storm. This film introduces first-hand accounts from Katrina survivors about their horrific experiences during the storm, and the difficulties they've experienced during reconstruction. The newest film "Dos Americas..." (2008) focuses on issues such as wage-theft, on-site injuries, black/brown relationships and other factors resulting in demographic changes within the city. After the films, audience members will have the chance to speak with one of the contributors. These films are a must see.
