...since the early morning hours, houses, flats and storage rooms of austrian animal rights activists have been raided and some of them where arrested. The police forced some people with weapons and handcuffed others while searching the building and rooms. In vienna they smashed the window of a storage room of a localgroup(VGT)!
Rumors telling that there will be 10 arrests, all charged with 31 delicts from arson to smashing windows and spray painting.
Convicts face a sentence from 5 month up to 5 years in prison. All charges are build up around the campagne against the store chain KLEIDER BAUER who´s holder still want to make money from selling animalfur! This campagne is now running for mainly 2 years and was a thorn in authoritys flesh from the beginning. From the start the protestors had to deal with constrictions of free speach and repression from police and authoritys.

We hope to get more infos soon!!...please forward!!

update on the situation

according to latest news, police couldn't find anything, people are still arrested and have not been given a reason for it. head of austrian vegan society is denied access to his lawyer and therefore started a hunger strike. i'm thinking about protesting at the austrian embassy in london if nothing will happen. have seen them protesting in vienna in front of Kleider Bauer store often and there has never been any violence, spraying, etc involved.
