A Times undercover investigation has revealed that the biggest breeder of greyhounds for racing is supplying those that are too slow for racing to vivisection labs; including the University of Liverpool.

Zig Zag Kennels, run by Charles Thomas Pickering and his wife Barbara Alix Pickering, make a small profit of £30 per dog whereas other breeders in the area sell "purposely bred" beagles for as much as £200, leaving little room to wonder why labs choose them.

Others involved in the scandal include Richard Fielding, one of the trainers attached to Manchester's Bell Vue Stadium.

"[I WANT TO KEEP THE BUSINESS] NICE AND CONFIDENTIAL [BECAUSE IT IS] EXTREMELY SENSITIVE" - Pickering to an undercover reporter, commenting on his dirty dealings.
