Mass Trespass on site of open cast mining in Derbyshire

The rush to coal means that more and more open cast mines are being started. This one is in Derbyshire and backs on to a country park. A mass trespass is being called for to restart the campaign against open cast mining. More info can be found in the website mentioned.

This is a cut and paste from an email a friend of mine in Derbyshire sent to me so I thought I would pass it on and put it in the public domain:
"There's something i need to pass onto you both about open cast mining. You probably know there's a growing campaign against it. Well there's a new website about a local site that's due to start mining soon. It's at Smalley in Derbyshire. It's right next to Shipley Country Park. The locals gave up when the decision to allow mining was given, but there's a new campaign to have a little fun, and also try and get the locals back involved again. there's going to be a mass trespass on May 26th with a meeting in a hall nearby afterwards. This will be a very public event, hopefully with press coverage.
If you can't make it yourselves, it would be good if you could send details out to those you think may be interested in attending.

Here's a link to the website with all the details. It's worth following the links on there too.

This website is very new so i don't know what else will be going on to it, but there's a photo group being set up on 'flickr' that will show photos of the area. I'll send a link when that's up and running properly."
