Sheffield Foie Gras victory makes local press

It took just one polite phone call to get The Showroom to ditch foie gras! This just goes to show that everyone can make a difference in removing the 'delicacy of despair' from shops and restaurants in Britain.

Another success in foie gras campaign

Animal Rights activists have scored another success in their campaign against foie gras being sold in Sheffield.
Sheffield Animal Friends have persuaded the Showroom restaurant on Paternoster Row to take it off the menu.

They spotted it on a sample menu on the Showroom's website.
Head chef Paul Murton, above, says it was put together for a wedding and used as a sample menu.

"We figured since the foie gras issue is now such a massive topic of debate we would rather be a more ethical company and avoid any further conflict or receive any of the threats we had been warned about."

The protesters, who have already claimed victories at two local restaurants and got it banned from stalls of the continental market, also picketed Moran's on Abbeydale Road South.

They had seen the duck's liver on a website but chef-patron Bryan Moran pointed out it was an old menu from last year. He's not selling foie gras now but refused to sign an undertaking not to use it again.
