International Socialist Resistance & Youth Against Racism protest call

Anti-racist | 02.05.2008 15:08 | London

ISR & YRE call for a protest outside of City Hall tomorrow, 3rd May, should the BNP win a seat on the London Assembly.

It is possible that the BNP could get a seat on the London GLA, and a number of council seats across the country after May 1. If the BNP get a place in the GLA, ISR and YRE will be calling a protest outside the London Assembly at 3pm on Saturday May 3 (nearest tube London Bridge), to make it clear that we oppose the BNP's racist, far-right ideas. Look out for the news on Friday evening, and join the protest if the BNP get in. Tell everyone you know to come along too!

“The BNP have received this result primarily as a protest vote, not as an indication of support for their real ideas,” said Ben Robinson, ISR national coordinator.

“People are angry with rising living costs and falling wages and with getting identical policies from the main three parties, policies of cuts, closures and privatisation.“However, when the BNP have got seats locally they have often supported these policies, and acted to encourage racism and xenophobia.

“This protest will be the start of a campaign against the BNP.”
