No arms trade - Shut Down Heckler & Koch! Demonstration Tuesday May 6th

someone | 24.04.2008 14:57 | Anti-militarism

Come and help stop the arms trade in Nottingham.

As you may know, Heckler & Koch is the second-largest manufacturer of small arms in the world and the Nottingham office is responsible for the company's "international customer sales". It was recently revealed that H&K machine guns are being used by notoriously trigger-happy corporate mercenary outfit Blackwater in Iraq and Afghanistan. More information is available on the NottsAntiMilitarism website.

There will be a demonstration on May 6th to raise public awareness of the company's presence and to launch a campaign to shut it down. We will meet at 15:30 the corner of Abbey Bridge and Gregory St (opposite the White Hart). At 16:00 we'll march the short distance to Heckler & Koch's office (Easter Park, Lenton Lane, NG7 2PX) for a peaceful demonstration.

Book the afternoon off work, bring banners, placards, toy guns, etc, and if you can't get any of those just bring yourself!

If you can do anything to help publicise this demo that would be great. There are PDFs online of a leaflet and a poster that you could put in shops, community centres etc.

There will be a Heckler & Koch Campaign Meeting the following week, on Tuesday May 13th at 20:00 in the Sumac Centre. We will be assesssing how the demonstration went and planning future actions. If you want the campaign to grow and can spare any time to help, please come along.
