On the front page of today's thelondonpaper {www.thelondonpaper.com/} a "Major safety alert was announced as the MRC admitted 'having exchanged contracts' and it was announced that the centre will hlod deadly viruses such as ebola, anthrax and rabies". Scientists and MP's are criticising the project as residents are planning to fight 'in any way necessary' to protect their families.

Cambridge University malaria researcher Dr Ellen Nesbit warned : "Accidents happen. It doesn't matter if you are driving a car or working in a lab, one day something will happen. If an accident does happen, it could be catatstrophic. You just have to make sure an accident does not happen, or locate the lab in an area where it is not so catatstrophic if it does happen".
Foot and Mouth disease was leaked form govt. facility Pirbright in Surrey with tragic results. Any airborne diseases will spread quickly abroad as did the "manure smell" recently from France. This would lead to international disaster with the blame firmly on Britain and Gordon Brown. Millions could die. London could be quarantined as people would be trapped in with whatever disease could be leaked. This would lead to unimaginable, horrific consequences.
The area would have to patrolled by armed police. Locals are worried that this could lead to innocent people being shot, as was Jean Charles De Menezes who was "mistaken for a terrorist".
Hendon MP Andrew Dismore said : "If there was abreach of security in North London it would be nasty but not nearly so nasty as Kings Cross. We should not be moving it to Central London."
A planning application is expected to be lodged with Camden Council early next year.

As for "making sure accidents do not happen"....who can forget the images shown on Channel 4 showing lab technicians drinking and taking drugs while conducting experiments in a lab near Cambridge?
Residents have launched at least two campaigns and Animal Rights activiststs will be following suit. Campaigners have been blunt in their criticisms : One said "Fuck em! No way we gonna let this happen!" Others have promised "to riot", yet more have described the project as "dangerous".

Any info re : the lab will be treated in the STRICTEST CONFIDENCE and sources can remain anonymous.
