As this years largest anarchist call for May time action, FIT will be
looking forward to their annual overtime following predominately
known anarchists around London.

This year we plan to make this an unpleasant and unsuccessful venture.

Fitwatch are asking people to join them employ a range of tactics to show
we will not tolerate FIT's presence on our demonstrations.

Whether you want to take photographs, make notes, physically intervene in
their activities, or whatever you feel might be effective - get involved
in an effective tactic which is aiming to make the streets safer for
protesters.

Want to know more? Want to get involved? Got some ideas to share?
Come to the Tactics Sharing Gathering on 26th April at LSE.

Fitwatch isn't about fun

it's about confronting the biggest hurdle facing political activists in this country when they take part in public events - harassment from the police. either you have no experience of this or just expect police harassment 'will happen'. Either way i suggest you educate yourself and get involved in serious campaigning rather than picking up and dropping whatever you deem to be 'fun'.

Sensible activist

I don't see what, in the article above, made you think that the person writing it thought FITwatch was about fun. They mention various tactics, including taking photos, making notes and physically getting in the way of the cops. None of that sounds particularly like fun to me, more like something that has to be done.

I do agree with your comment - that FIT teams are a massive hurdle that have to be overcome and I strongly believe that we should do all we can to prevent FIT cops from scaring protesters away from taking part in demonstrations.

However, a certain degree of fun should be had in almost everything you find yourself, whether it be doing a protest or creating problems for a group of cops intent on intimidating people. You should always try to enjoy things that you have to do, it works for me - I wouldn't have been able to be an activist for so many years without burning out seriously if I hadn't had days where I could just have fun.

Especially with the FIT being there to intimidate and harass people, having a bit of fun, taking the piss or whatever as one tactic of many employed by activists and FITwatchers at least will show them that they're not affecting us in the way they want to, we're not intimidated by them.

where's the fun?

I've got a bit confused - who mentioned fun?

That's not to say I won't be happy when the day arrives when FIT no longer get away with shoving us around the way they do now. And if people do start to react against them, that day could come pretty soon. After all, FIT are supposed to be there to prevent 'public disorder' not be the cause of it. How could they justify that to their political masters? It's about time we got rid of FIT from our demos/gatherings whatever you want to call them. They're just not wanted. Cheerio, FIT.

serious too
