BBC1 ITN CNN Ken Livingstone homes promises but at Camden Death Lab Zone refuses

London Against Camden Danger Lab | 17.04.2008 19:14 | Animal Liberation | Bio-technology | Social Struggles

Ken Livinstone has promised, as has Gordon Brown to make building new homes a "priority".However he refuses to intervene so that the most deprived & disadvantaged council estate in the country can have more council homes & community facilitites in place of the "World's largest ever, highest level, virus containment facility & animal testing lab" can be built there instead. Why? ...

Ken has been all over the press in the past couple of days promising homes, saying he will make homes a "priority".
However he refuses to intervene on one of the country's most deprived, overcrowded inner city London estates.
Somers Town estate is about to be turned into an armed guard fortress thanks to the MRC plans to be build a "super lab".
Ken was a vivisector, testing on animals for the Big Pharma industry....could this be why? Does he still maintain links with the industry?
Local residents and businesses are opposed to the lab. The site is close to St Pancras Eurostar, Euston, Kings Cross scenes of the devastating 7/7 and 21/7 bombings from which the area is still recovering and could become aterror target.
The area needs homes & community facilities urgently.
The MRC claims building the project will provide jobs. But campaigners say that building council homes & community facilities will provide exactly the same jobs.

The project is shrouded in secrecy and has been given an almost blackout in media coverage despite thisd being the biggest project {and the most dangerous} next the London Olympics in 2012. The lab is "due to open" in 2013.

Local residents, businesses, animal rights activists and many other people have joined forces in opposing the lab.

Please supply any evidence or further information you have of this, thanks.

Are ALL

1) he worked as a cancer research lab tech, but this was NOT in a vivisection-practicing facility, as the writer could have ascertained quite easily. He is in fact a bit of an animal-lover, albeit purely our amphibious comrades
2) if HMG decides to give the nod to the lab - and equally if camden BC do - there's sweet FA he can legally do about the lab. as the writer could have ascertained with equal ease.
Ye gods these people really are on a different planet...

slight amendment

for 'facility' meant 'role'; livingstone's job did not directly involve vivisection, full stop, don't think the lab inquestion did, but not 100% certain

A demo held in London 2 days ago re: Ken & vivisection. See Evening Standard.

18.04.2008 14:55

It was actually reported in the Evening Standard a couple of days ago that "Ken was a vivisector" and a demo / protest was held in London by Voice For Animals.
So to Mr Daan Saaf {who is probably Ken himself} the writer is not "on another planet". In fact all sorts of people are trying this one on, including Camden council who are claiming there is "no such lab planned" when in fatc it is on the MRC's OWN WEBSITE!

Try telling some of those people....

18.04.2008 14:58

Just you try telling some of those people from London Against Camden Danger Lab that they are "on another planet" to their faces and see what you get.....

anon

I suppose you wouldn't...

18.04.2008 18:51

...be so kind as to provide links to:

(a) The claims that the Evening Standard refered to Ken as a 'vivisector' (from the actual Evening Standard website would be best)
(b) The part of the MRC website which provides information on the proposed laboratory.

The fact you haven't done so previously I find rather dubious myself.

As for Ken Livinstone, yes he was a lab technician. A lab technician will fetch animals from cages, prepare them, hold them down for experiments , take blood, record data, clip tags into their ears, tattoo animals {In place of tags} etc. He is not an "animal lover" in fact he is dubbed all over London as the Pigeon Murderer after winning a battle banning people from feeding them in Trafalgar Square. The Evening Standard did indeed print a story regarding Ken's role in the vivisection industry following a demonstration at City Hall by Animal Rights activists. This was in the Wednesday April 16th 2008 edition of the newspaper. You can walk into any library in London and find a back copy and read it. Look for the titled Election Diary.

note : Men in similar roles as lab techs were filmed by Channel 4 at a lab near Cambridge {Huntingdon Life Sciences} punching animals and playing sex games with them ; falsifying data etc. Nasty bunch.

Ken says {in Camden New Journal this week Front Page} that....

20.04.2008 18:19

"He will make homes a priority for Camden". Yet he has not once spoken out against the lab plans or in defence of the people of Camden and indeed anyone else who might be affected by the lab. He could do this via the mainstream media but hasn't...

Oh and ...we are friendly and approachable. {We don't bite unless you provoke us...}

Please post the article

Unfortunately I am not in London. Is it possible for someone to get hold of a copy of this and post the relevant article about Ken Livingstone. I am not necessarily doubting the authenticity of this but accusations without having secured the evidence to back yourself up is not only unprofessional but also leaving yourself open to a load of hassle, as well as possibly making yourself look like a fool.

In this, I am very surprised that London Against Camden Danger Lab have not secured this important document with which to back up their claims.

Many thanks, Chris

Chris
