Italy + election result

Italy IMC | 15.04.2008 09:31

The Italian general election which has seen the right regain power also has other consequences.

At the same time that Silvio Burlusconi has returned to be our Prime Minister with the help of the near Facist Northen League under Umberto Bossi we have seen the complete collapse of the Green/Communist alliance vote with their representation having fallen to zero parliment seats

The decision by the radical left parties and Communist Refoundation of Faust Bertinotti (CR), the smaller Democratic Communist Party of Italy, and the Green Party – to enter Prodi’s L’Unione coalition of small centre parties and the large ex-Stalinist Democrats of the Left who have strong ties to the largest trade union in Italy, CGIL, has been nothing short of a disaster.

The message for anybody on the Italian Left is obvious, the democratic process can not be trusted with the future of Italy and Europe, now is the time for workers to rise up and take control of Europe, no more elections, no more democracy.

People power is the way forward !

Well said

The democratic process is deeply flawed and unrepresentitive of the needs of the people. The power must be taken by the workers and the bosses thrown out. The people of Italy have clearly been unable to form the right decision despite being informed of the facts so we must educate, inform and control until they are free.

No war but the class war

Italian Greens

15.04.2008 09:58

The Italian Green Party was destroyed by not only its association with the Communists but also becaise it was found to have lied during the election campaign about the Co2 and Climate Change issue. The Greens said that there was 100% proof that Co2 was the cause of climate change when this was shown to be false and when the head of the Italian weather forecasting office described this, "assurdità informata male" or in English "a badly informed absurdity" their support fell away.

The Greens in Italy like in Germany were once a potent political force however they have now lost everything after the Italian people simply stopped believing what they said was true.

Bad Loser ?

Written above is,

"no more elections, no more democracy. "

Do I see the sour grapes of election defeat ?

Elections - not perfect but better than all the alternatives
