Friendly Feudalism-The Tibet Myth

No Corps | 13.04.2008 17:35

Here' one for all of you still gloating about disrupting the Olympic torch relay-

Hope you enjoyed striking a blow to "free" Tibet for Friendly Feudalism.

And let's not mention the military bases Uncle Sam has planned for installation in a "free" Tibet.

Was the CIA generous with their checks sent to you?

Support Other CIA

As usual small minded paranoia & spoily tactics on Indymedia ignore the whole context & demean the debate. Your argument and use of the article in support is quickly destroyed by this one short quote from said Parenti article.
"We can advocate religious freedom and independence for a new Tibet without having to embrace the mythology about old Tibet"

In support of Batmen and Batwomen Everywhere
& the movement for
Cosmic Indigenous Anarchy

Does this pro-Chinese - maoist propaganda hold any water - no.

There is NO CIA PLOT - it is a case of simple self-determination.

I would not want to live under Chinese style communism - so I fully understand why the Tibetans don't want to either - it is as simple as this,

Don't be sidetracked by false red herrings (CIA plot) - this is just counter-revolutionary.

Support Tibet every step of the way.

Agree with Batty

Can we assume by the same argument...

...that NoCorps is an agent in the pay of Beixing?
NoXCps, you appear to be on something of a mission here, to smear all anti-PRC protests as a Neocon covert put-up job. sorry, but no. As a libertarian socialist, Iloathe the regimes in washington and Beixing with similar fervour, and the same is true of most I met on the Tibet Olympic protest. yes, our protest may suit washington's convenience, but that doesn't make the PRC regime any less tyrannical, inhumane or hateful. nor does it negate the human rights - specifically, the right to self-determination, of the Tibetans.

Human Rights abuses

I supported the Tibet Olympic protests. My view is that the NED funding of probably questionable, and that Tibet groups should be a bit more discerning over where they get their funding from. However that does not mean that Tibet should not be supported on human rights grounds or that Free Tibet groups should not campaign for independence if that is what they (and not the CIA) want. I think Tibet should be 'free' in the sense of self-determination, whether that is actual independence or freely negotiated/agreed on autonomy.

Really, should this 'article' be in the newswire at all? - As it is only a few lines of opinion and not an actual article. There is already too much (for me) to read on the newswire already.

An old and discredited piece.

This is an old piece of junk which has been comprehensively discredited. I agree with Brian, I don't know what it's doing here.
