Smash EDO tour comes to Sheffield!

Sheffield Activist Network | 12.04.2008 21:11 | Anti-militarism | Iraq | Terror War | Sheffield

"Every bomb that is dropped, every bullet that is fired in the name of this War of Terror has to be made somewhere. And wherever that is, it can be resisted."

The Smash EDO film, "On The Verge" is being shown at 4pm on Friday the 25th April at Lecture Theatre 3 in the Arts Tower at the University of Sheffield

In 2004 a group of Brighton peace campaigners began to bang pot and pans outside their local arms manufacturers EDO MBM in disgust of their part in the Iraq war. This has grown into the Smash EDO campaign, which has cost the company millions, been the subject of large scale police operations and has tested the right to protest in the UK.

Using activist, police and CCTV footage plus interviews with those involved in the campaign, On The Verge tells the story of one of the most persistent and imaginative campaigns to emerge out of the UK's anti-war movement and direct action scene.

Lecture theatre 3, Sheffield Uni Arts Tower, 4pm-6.30pm, Friday 25th April. Sorry if the timing's a bit rubbish.

Can't quite remember

14.04.2008 12:26

I'm sure there was some good reason when we made the room booking, but I can't for the life of me remember it now. Unless it's that you can only book rooms at the union up until a certain point on Friday evenings, but it still seems a bit early. Sorry again to everyone who can't make it, anyway.

Torrent?

There's a bit of discussion of the subject here:  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2008/03/394558.html?c=on#c193610 . They seem to be saying that there will be a torrent, but not just yet. You could email them and ask, tho.
