New Entrepreneur Scholarship

Last night saw the awards presentation of the New Entrepreneur Scholarships (nes) at UCLAN in PrestonThe full story about that will no doubt appear on the web later. But what did come to light was the conflict of interest between organisations like nes and Businesslink. One scholar I spoke with has an IT based new business. James told me that one of his new customers had gone to Businesslink for financial assistance.Thats all well and good. But Businesslink had insisted that as part of the package of their financial help his customer would have to have her IT,website design done by one of their listed company's. This took away his new business and in real terms put his new company on the edge."Even the loss of an amount like £1500 can have a devastating effect on a newly formed company, especially one formed on the basis of a £1500 grant from nes."
