Fossil Fools Blockade E.On Offices in Nottingham (an audio piece)

Riseup! Radio Crew | 02.04.2008 14:28 | Climate Chaos

From 7:30 on the morning of 1 April, 30 people blockaded the entrances to E.On's offices on Mount St, Nottingham city centre. People covered themselves in green paint to represent E.On's greenwash, locked onto the front entrance to the offices and stood in front of other entrances preventing E.On workers from getting to work. So what was it all about? Riseup! Radio crew hit the streets to find out..

really excellent piece! covered almost every angle (well, those that really matter anyway- we've heard what the bosses and corporates of e-on have to say in other sources) thankyou so much for doing it. made me smile.

the radio project is really good overall- i think audio coverage like this really captures so much more than written coverage ever can.

thanks again

ps- those employees were ace! were they really e.on workers!!? diamond reporting! and good on them for telling the truth. i heard that some of the employees were afraid to take the protest leaflet because their bosses were watching. shame on e.on!

Good to see the lack of knowledge and preparation displayed.

You disrupted business within a multi-let building. Not an E.on office.

A cursory glance through the main window could have informed you of this.
But, while you have a message to put across, I don't suppose you care if you inconvenience people who aren't the targets of your 'peaceful' protest.

And blockading fire doors? Allowing a pregnant woman to d-lock herself to a door? It seems you don't care much about endangering human life either.

Luckily I was off that day, or your 'interview' might have led to a conversation about your solutions to the overpopulation of the planet and it's impact on our resources/increase in energy consumption.

I'm disappointed in the youth of today, in all it's guises.

A large amount of time was spent working out how to blockade this building safely. If you check the photos you will see that people blockading the fire escapes were not locked to anything and had actually just covered themselves in green paint so people could get past they just didn't want to.

Come on of course they would move if there was a fire or any other emergancy and hadn't locked themselves to anything so they could do so quickly.

As to using a pregnant women, she was there of her own free choice and has the right to take action on climate change like the rest of us, perhaps she is more concerned as she is going to be a mother of someone who live their whole life affected by climate change
