SAVE POST OFFICES UNDER THREAT

Seven Post Office branches serving local communities around Haringey are being
threatened with closure: 89 Weston Park, N8; Ferme Park Road, N4; 100 Alexandra
Park Road, N10; Salisbury Road, N22; 7 Highgate High Street, N6; 434 West Green
Road, N15; 87 Broad Lane, N15.

A VITAL SERVICE

Local PO branches provide a vital service for local communities, especially for
the most vulnerable residents. Already there has been a protest of 200
residents outside the Alexander Park Rd branch in Muswell Hill, more are
planned at the other branches, and thousands of people are signing petitions
around the borough. The Haringey Federation of Residents Associations, the
Council and the local press have all backed the protests.

NOW IS THE TIME TO SPEAK OUT

The Post Office is consulting the public until April 2nd - so we have to speak
out now! In fact around 170 POs in London and 2000 POs nationally are affected.
Very few people believe that the 'consultation' is genuine and so everywhere
there are objections and angry protests.

Last time this happened on this scale, in 2004, the Government was forced to
suspend and reconsider the Post Office's entire national closure programme.

STANDING UP FOR OUR COMMUNITIES

We believe that local communities are entitled to have a full range of local
services and amenities of all kinds in their own neighbourhoods: Post Offices,
community centres, local shops, schools, GPs and dentists, libraries, parks
etc. As local residents we all need to be determined to do our best to stand up
for such services. Please get involved in your local residents association, or
contact us for help setting one up. And come and join us in the protest!
