Tesco's kill tourism - official

Highlighting latest moves by the supermarket giant in a small seaside town.

Retail giant Tesco, already having established bases in all othe east devon towns, has now focussed its attention on the jurassic/tourist backwater that is Seaton.
Whilst local media interests have played to the typiccal Sun shock/horror/scandal digest, the monolith has bought the main section of a regeneration site after locals objected to the original developrs plan.
Still employing the discredited agents, Teco has now bought the core business of Seatons business infrastructure, namely the Lyme Bay holiday village. This facility provides some 90% of the towns holiday accommodation, largely cheap package breaks for working class families from the midlands and south wales. An almost symbiotic relationship between the town and working class families away from Devon appears to be on the demise. The camp also provides community facilities to the most neglected town in east devon via its bar/restausrant/leisure complex, which, now Tesco is in town, will be forced to close with the loss of up to 100 sustainable jobs and in some cases, homelessness on the part of some employees.
