NSPM announce Civil Liberties Conference- April 19th- Maya Evans & more
NSPM | 12.03.2008 17:34 | SOCPA | Culture | Repression
Instead of this years annual peace conference Nottingham Student Peace Movement will be hosting a Civil Liberties Conference centered around analysing and forming a response to the consistent erosion of our human rights and civil liberties in the UK and abroad.
Spurred into action by the use of the 'War On Terror' to establish a police state in the UK, NSPM has decided to gather minds together. With the advent of SOCPA, increased policing, FIT teams and CCTV surveillance, our human rights are being eroded steadily. Students at Nottingham will be the first to be given ID cards. Why is this happening? Who benefits? Will it stop terrorism? Is the ‘terrorist threat’ worth acting on?
