....Noam Chomsky. I think too much intellectual and practical effort is being misplaced into the 9/11 thing. There are more important arguments to be engaged with if ones goals are long term lasting change for a more just and compassionate human world.

Noam Chomsky is in the camp of not wanting to open that particular can of worms due to the repurcussions if it were proven the Bush administration had something to do with it. I think he sees government as a necessary evil and that it would be the end of it if people found out they had been hoodwinked. How could anyone trust a goverment after something so horrific (if they were indeed complicit).

I don't think for one minute that someone with Chomsky's intelligence is falling for the official conspiracy theory any more than the average 911 truther, but he has to be wary of what will happen on a national scale (and possibly on a personal level) if he did start banging the drum.
