As an organisation we are very conscious of our impact on the environment and we work hard to design our products, select manufacturers and distribute our products using ways that contribute to reducing energy usage, carbon emissions and waste
“Environmental impact has, and continues to become an increasingly important local and global issue. As an organisation we are very conscious of our impact on the environment and we work hard to design our products, select manufacturers and distribute our products using ways that contribute to reducing energy usage, carbon emissions and waste. To have our efforts recognized through achieving ISO 14001 registration is fantastic. It reassures us that we are adhering to best practices: and our customers that we are striving to minimise our impact on the environment wherever possible” says Packaging2u.co.uk Marketing Manager - Chrissie West.
ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard providing a framework for the development of an effective environmental management system and supporting audit programme. ISO 14001 applies to environmental aspects which an organisation has control over and can be expected to influence and manage.
As well as managing operational activities in a manner that is responsible to the environment, Packaging2u.co.uk encourages customers to think about their packaging choices as shown by the significant growth in demand for corrugate based packaging products and growing demand for biodegradable products.
“In addition to operating in accordance with ISO 14001” continues West “we support industry initiatives aimed at educating and encouraging customers to make informed packaging choices that do not compromise on the protection of their products, but are considerate of the environment, and in addition, promote the use of recycling facilities and services where available, for example the Corrugated Recycles campaign”.
The Corrugated Recycles campaign is an international campaign led by the Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) aimed at raising awareness of corrugated products’ exceptional recyclability rate. The Corrugated Recycles campaign highlights the benefits of recycling corrugated products. These include decreasing the amount of solid waste going to landfill, reducing demand for virgin raw materials and significantly reducing energy usage and subsequent CO2 emissions resulting from the manufacturing process.
