Have the spooks got at Indymedia?

Bird on the wire | 03.03.2008 13:46

For the last five days, the site has been difficult to access. Why is this?

Trying to access the Indymedia site has proved almost impossible for some days.

Just getting into the site is bad enough, the Newswire stories are even worse than this. Is there a virus? Have the neo con gremlins at GCHQ been busy?

Have others had this experience too?

Some problems with the mirrors

03.03.2008 17:02

The main mirror ran out of disk space and there seems to be some other glitches that need addressing, hopefully it'll all be working a bit better in some days as another machine is due to come online.

Quick Answer

03.03.2008 14:45

Never, never, never access IMC through your browser without going via a proxy server like ANONYMOUSE - www.anonymouse.org and that way the cookie that IM uses is not downloaded to your PC (or Mac come to that).

After the recent software changes the cookie now collects a lot more info about you so the load time is longer, If you view via a proxy the cocckie can't load so problem solved. I know IM claims that the info they collect is safe but I say best not to take a chance, we all remember the servers being seized and the info that Mi5 / plod ended up with as a result of that

Cheers

New IP Logger

03.03.2008 17:36

A lot less to do with disk space being full and a lot more with the new IP Logger being activated without agreement.

I am very pissed off with this as once again a change has been made that is still being discussed. Some IMC people need to realise that a collective means a collective agreement process not just a discussion that others then ignore.
