SOCPA - MP stops just short of advocating the death penalty for protest

rikki | 03.03.2008 00:25 | SOCPA | Repression | London

following on from the story about arrests outside parliament on thursday evening last week ( http://publish.indymedia.org.uk/en/2008/02/392412.html), this clip from 'telegraph tv' shows alan duncan's rather extreme views on non-violent direct action protest.

he hasn't actually had barbara tucker executed yet, but he got her illegally incarcerated for 20 hours after she offended him outside the gates of parliament by pointing out on her megaphone to passers-by that he is a war criminal (having voted for and supported the genocidal, illegal, massacre of tens maybe hundreds of thousands of iraqi civilians)

when barbara was eventually interviewed toward the end of her long ordeal at the hands of belgravia police (who now patrol the socpa zone instead of charing cross after some sort of political shake-up), she was shown a witness statement by alan duncan mp, whom she allegedly distressed and alarmed.

at around the same time, mr duncan (who is the tory minister for big business) was showing his contempt for legitimate protest, even taking the telegraph's own interviewer by surprise with his rather forthright and extreme views.

barbara is looking forward to commencing a judicial review of her illegal detention, and the thought of her getting the fragrant mr duncan on the witness stand, though unlikely, is certainly rather delicious. given barbara's continual triumphs in court, just about anything is possible, so keep watching this space.

in the meantime, enjoy the clip of alan duncan "not actually advocating" his suggested shooting and gassing of peaceful protestors!!
