A division of Macfarlane Packaging, the UK’s largest packaging distributor, Packaging2u.co.uk initiated a strong focus on the environment for the year ahead concentrating on operational processes implemented to support ISO 14001 registration coupled with other key activities relating to corporate responsibility policies.
“Corporate responsibility is about our commitment to integrate environmental and social concerns into our business operations and interaction with employees, customers and other stakeholders to produce a positive overall impact on society” said Mark Selby, Packaging2u.co.uk’s Managing Director.
Suppliers from a range of product sectors including corrugated products, polythene products, gift and retail packaging took the opportunity to talk about environmentally friendly packaging and to demonstrate new products and packaging solutions.
Selby continues: "We have seen a definite increase in demand for environmentally friendly packaging products. Media coverage reveals the interest and concerns in providing the right packaging solutions in an environmentally responsible way. Our customers are proactively looking to us for guidance and leadership in providing packaging for their products in a manner that is considerate of the environment. At the same time, there can be no compromise on the performance or quality of their packaging and it is essential that Packaging2u.co.uk continues to be the most cost-effective packaging supplier in the UK.
A key message from the conference was that both packaging suppliers and end users need to continually look at ways of reducing, reusing and recycling packaging without compromising on the performance of their packaging or sacrificing the safety or integrity of their products.
This year’s annual conference also saw Packaging2u.co.uk announcing 122% growth on trading 2006 to 2007.
